Victor Mature is an American stage, film and television actor. He was active during 1940’s and 1950’s as aleading man in Hollywood. He is remembered for his great physique. He was best known for his role in ” Samson and Delilah”(1949). He was a star who attained stardom dressed in a wooly mammoth loincloth, bare chested, bare armed, broad shoulders, narrow waist, curly hair, sensual face, togas and leotards as the prehistoric hunter, Tumak in the movie that made him a star in the 1940, “One million B.C.”

Childhood

Victor was born on January 29, 1913 at Louisville, Kentucky, United States to Marcellus George Mature, a cutler and knife sharpener, and Clara P. (Ackley). Victor was the only one of the children of Marcellus and Clara. He had one elder brother and one elder sister. His elder sister passed away in 1906 and elder brother passed from Osteomyelitis in 1918.

Victor studied at the Soencerian Business school, the Kentucky Military Institute, and St. Xavier High School Unstudious and rebellious, he was thrown out of all the schools. He also studied at the Pasadena community playhouse. Leaving school at 15, he became a salesman with a wholesle candy house. Four years later he headed to Hollywood to pursue his acting career.
